ABOUT KAREN MACKE

I am very fortunate. I get to work with incredibly smart people who all want to make a difference. Each day. Every day. At Nationwide, I lead a creative, technically savvy team focused on building the enterprise of the future while meeting the needs of today\'s worker. A key part of our mission is to show each employee across the enterprise how much we value both their talents and contributions. Our team also is constantly innovating—developing an AI app to answer associates\' employment and benefits questions, for example. And offering wellness programs that identify health issues, such as support for those facing the challenges brought on by today\'s opioid epidemic. My background in data and financial analysis—including predictive modeling—plays a key role in helping me develop my team and our creative solutions.I also use those skills beyond my work at Nationwide, where I serve on the boards of WorldatWork (WaW) and the Columbus YWCA as well as the Macke Foundation. In these roles, I focus on:• providing support to the arts, hunger relief efforts, clean water initiatives in Africa, and victims of domestic violence• working toward pay equity, delivery of better health care for those in need, and influencing policy makers • interacting with high school juniors and those entering their professional career looking to address societal injustices One of my favorite ways to give back is by serving on the Social Justice Committee of the YWCA Board of Trustees. It allows me to help chronically homeless women and families find permanent housing. There is deep satisfaction in helping other women of all ages find the help they need to change their lives. As I said, I am very fortunate. I get to work with incredibly smart people who all want to make a difference. Each day. Every day.Specialties include: talent analytics | benefits & compensation | organizational development
