When you think of your internal financial auditing team, do you think of them as a trusted business partner? I hope so because that’s what we should be! Sure, we ensure the company’s financial statements are in good order and in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and there is a focus on discovering errors or even fraud, but. Regulatory changes, economic headwinds, and the interconnectivity of business require most companies to quickly dodge threats and exploit opportunities. This reality requires the finance team to remain vigilantly informed of the latest developments affecting the company and how the company intends to respond to external drivers of change.\' Analytical/critical thinking, business acumen, communication, teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvements are the keys to my team’s success. As an internal financial audit leader, I serve my organization by building relationships and partnering with business units to inaugurate initiatives to ensure compliance, mitigate corporate exposure and risk, minimize financial hardship and loss, and ensure the integrity of the company? I am currently pursuing my CIA credential and was very active in the National Association of Black Accountants having previously served as a Chapter President.
