ABOUT KAREN ESSON-LYNN

A passionate and energetic leader with broad based experience across a number of disciplines principally, supplier management, procurement, employee engagement and internal communications. I thrive on challenge, change and working with stakeholders to deliver better and best. Constructively outspoken with bags of drive and imagination.Career highlights include- Leading and managing a programme of initiatives centred on drivers such as supplier risk management, regulatory compliance and value/efficiency including exit management and service mapping- Owning the supplier manager capability agenda developing and launching a comprehensive training & competency scheme including induction and training needs assessment - Successfully managed from crisis to resolution a critically important supplier, taking learning and driving best practice through supplier management processes - One of a small team who established the procurement function; simultaneously recruiting team members, managing procurement workload and leading on aspects of the development of policy and governance of the new function- Strategic sourcing reviews of preferred supplier bases for multiple categories resulting in new supplier contracts, service agreements and significant savings/cost avoidance- Conceiving and gaining Exec support for the colleague engagement agenda across 3 pillars: Advocacy, Recognition and Voice. Taking the initiative to drive the development of a number of programmes including \'Feet on the Floor\' fostering links between colleague and the customer journey and driving a ten fold increase in engagement with the colleague recognition scheme- The voice of the Bank at the Tesco Group table to represent local interests in colleague recognition and insights- As an active committee member for the Bank\'s branch of Women at Tesco, running a \'Power of the Mind\' event which drew on support from a number of Directors who shared their stories to inspire others
