Karen Gilchrist is a business journalist based in London, with extensive expertise covering breaking news, corporate and business stories, international politics and financial markets. Her broadcast and digital reporting for CNBC, NBC and MSNBC has included financial market coverage, as well as special investigations into the war in Ukraine, sanctions circumvention and international trade flows. She has also spearheaded various digital video coverage, producing and fronting a series of short documentaries on international conflict and its economic implications, as well as appearing on TV and social channels.Previously based in Singapore, Karen was CNBC’s first Make It reporter for Asia Pacific, spearheading coverage across entrepreneurship, careers and personal finance. She was the creator and host of CNBC Make It’s original digital video series, landing interviews with rising start-ups across the Asia Pacific region including Coupang, GoTo, Canva and Afterpay.
