ABOUT KAREN PASHBY
I am Professor of Global Citizenship Education at Manchester Metropolitan University; Lead for Research in the School of Education; Co-Lead of the Education, Policy and Practice Research Group; and Past President of the Comparative and International Education Society of Canada. I am interested in the possibilities and limitations of global citizenship education. My research and teaching draw on post/de/anti-colonial theoretical resources to respond to the (often unintentional) reproduction of colonial systems of power in how global justice challenges are taken-up in educational settings in \'global north\' contexts (e.g, northern Europe and Canada). As an experienced secondary school teacher, teacher educator, and university lecturer; my research focuses on identifying the enabling factors and challenges to ethical global issues pedagogy in classrooms. I work with educators to produce supportive resources to enable critically reflexive global citizenship education. I\'m particularly interested in the pedagogical intersections of education for climate change, anti-racism, and decolonial possibilities.
