ABOUT KAREN MINER-ROMANOFF
Dr. Miner is currently teaching law and society, juvenile justice, miscarriages of justice and criminology at NYU and acts as the Law and Society Fellow. She is a nonprofit evaluator, researcher and consultant for programming focused on underserved youth. She recently completed a semester at Bard Early College as a visiting scholar and fellow. As a prior Ass. Dean for Academic Quality at NYU SPS, she led the Center for Academic Excellence and Support. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, emphasis in criminology, and an MA in Public Policy and Administration. Located in The Human Science Research Council in South Africa, she is a Fulbright Scholar. She obtained her J.D, as valedictorian, with clerkships in the U.S. District Court and U.S. Court of Appeals. She previously served as the Associate Provost and E.D. for the International Institute for Innovative Instruction and Dean at Franklin University. During that time, her criminal justice program received several Outstanding Design Awards. She is certified as an Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences peer reviewer, received numerous awards and grants and was selected to serve on the ACE Women’s Network Executive Board. She chaired the AERA SIG for Faculty Development, Teaching and Evaluation and sits on multiple educational advisory, editorial, and youth and education nonprofit boards and commissions. She was selected as a 2016 Learning Champion and is a National Science Foundation Data Consortium Fellow. She was recently honored for her research with the Franklin County Human Trafficking Court as the Outstanding Scholar/Practitioner of the Year. Her primary research interests converge in the areas of public policy responses to social and judicial inequalities for adults and youth. She also examines innovative pedagogical design and the impact on learning outcomes in her areas of expertise, including criminology, society and law and youth justice. She has presented and published extensively in her areas of expertise.
