ABOUT KAREN FUGAL HARBOLD

Wherever I’ve worked, I’ve helped to transform companies, not just with developing top-quality HR systems, but also by greatly improving the company culture. When something tough needs to be done, top management often gives it to me. I get it all done—the impossible just takes a little longer. In my 20 years of experience, I’ve handled the diverse challenges of work in software development, real estate & property management, construction and government. I believe in making companies places where employees enjoy the work and want to stay, and have greatly improved the company culture. I’m SHRM-CP certified in hiring, training, benefits, payroll, employee relations, and policy management. I helped to transform the culture at my current company by making great improvements in employee relations, including creating consistent policies and practices for hiring, background checks, staff performance, and termination. I was instrumental in decreasing company turnover by more than 70%, despite a doubling in the number of seasonal employees. This helped protect the company from lawsuits. Further, Spanish-speaking employees appreciate that I’m fluent in Spanish. I brought order to the company’s lax record keeping, rebuilt employees’ files, and instituted new procedures to ensure proper documentation moving forward. Other impacts I’ve made include instituting safety training, resolving compliance issues and implementing a system with automated time cards to properly assign time to the various property accounts.
