Karen J. Hanan: Senior Executive qualified by 20+ years of success providing leadership and managerial direction to well respected regional arts service and presenting organizations. Currently employed as the Executive Director of ArtsWA, the Washington State Arts Commission. Prior to this appointment by Governor Jay Inslee, Karen headed Arts Northwest where she was recognized as the driving force in re-positioning the non-profit organization for growth, artistic vitality, profitability and a commitment to mission through effective planning, vision, partnership building and operational savvy. Traveled extensively to conduct business on behalf of Arts Northwest and its 500 + members. Oversaw the doubling of Arts NW membership and budget. Prior to tenure with Arts Northwest, highly visible founder and Executive Director of the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts in Washington State. Well respected member of numerous industry organizations – held role as Chair and Vice President; member of several Board of Directors, and sought after panelist on multiple grant and advisory bodies. Immediately prior to her position with Arts Northwest, Karen Hanan was Executive Director of the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts, a multi stage, multi day festival, and cultural series presenting organization, which she founded in 1993 and led for 8 years.
