ABOUT KAREN HALL

I am a visionary and engaging Head of Design who leads with ambition, encouraging bold thinking to empower creative confidence. My design expertise spans brand creation and transformation, with a proven track record of successfully elevating and repositioning some of the UK’s largest omni-channel lifestyle retailers. My passion as a designer expands across the entire creative, design, and product development process, from initial concept to creative direction and campaigns that inspire customers. I have a hands-on approach and a natural intuition for product and brand, seeing potential where others may not. I inspire those around me to achieve more, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and innovation.Throughout my design career, I have supported and energised teams, cultivating an environment where creativity thrives. I combine brand vision, style, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to circularity and sustainable design within product design and development. My approach is driven by defining a clear brand narrative and mission, crafting compelling stories that align with business goals and drive substantial growth.During my career, I have had the pleasure of designing an innovative collection for the England team for the 2022 World Cup, reflecting the individuality of the players. At Arcadia, my key role was to strategically expand the Burton brand internationally, creating the concept for new wholesale stand-alone brands, including HiiT, an activewear brand for men and women that was later acquired by ASOS after the sale of Arcadia. At M&S, which had been in decline for ten years, I was responsible for the transformation of the design handwriting, developing a brand vision and design direction for M&S and sub brands Autograph, Goodmove and the launch of M&S Originals. My design approach focussed on enhanced modern style, particularly in casual wear and activewear, while improving overall quality and inspiring customers at every touch point. Under my design leadership, M&S menswear sales increased significantly, market share consistently grew and customer perception improved positively, contributing to a major business turnaround that repositioned M&S menswear as a leading force in UK retailI am passionate about enriching the community. I serve as a trustee at Woodfield Pavilion, supporting arts, promoting health and environmental protection. I am also committed to developing talent and mentoring future designers, regularly sharing my experience and knowledge at fashion universities.
