ABOUT KAREN GABRIEL

I am Vice Principal, and Head of the English Department at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, with a PhD focused in Development, Gender, Media, Culture from International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague. I am also Founder-Director, Center for Gender, Culture and Social Processes at St Stephen’s College. I have published extensively on issues of gender, sexuality, cinema, melodrama, the nation-state and media. My current research is on the political economy of pornography, and on dystopic fiction. My international fellowships and awards include the prestigious European Union\'s International Incoming Marie Curie Fellowship, Scholar in Residence at the College of William and Mary (USA), the Leverhulme Fellowship, GEXcel Post-doctoral Fellowship for Gender Excellence, and the Government of Netherlands fellowship for research.
