The Canadian Red Cross Friendly Calls program helps address issues of isolation and loneliness which have become heightened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Via telephone, I provide weekly support calls to adults: sometimes just to be a \"friendly stranger and listen, and other times, to connect them to community resources.”

ABOUT KAREN CHAN

I find disruptive but empathetic ways to engage people in positive hustle / flow, especially those we often forget. As a student nurse I started imagining healthier communities through art. 13 years later, Healthy Art Project collapsed during the shadow pandemic. As both a nurse and filmmaker, I strongly believe in the power of storytelling to disrupt the charity model in both Canada and abroad. My current focus is a comic book that uses art/play to help boys learn to draw back their voices after abuse.#BOYZDOCRY (Kid Kibera), the comic book/art therapy project will be published in Sept 2022. We hope to promote mindful hustle/flow in the boy child with histories of complex trauma.Currently, I am based in Canada with occasional travel to East Africa to use art as a weapon for innovation. What\'s your hustle?Tell me on Instagram!@matartu
