About Karan Patel
I’m an Image Analysis Scientist with hands-on experience in AI, machine learning, and medical imaging, specializing in digital pathology and biomedical data analysis. I work extensively with Python, TensorFlow, OpenCV, HALO, Visiopharm, and deep learning models to extract insights from complex imaging datasets. My focus is on productionizing and maintaining AI/ML pathology algorithms for detection, grading, quantification, and triage, with rigorous attention to performance, reproducibility, and monitoring. I package models with Docker, deploy and orchestrate on AWS, and build CI/CD pipelines to support continuous model and pipeline updates.I collaborate closely with data scientists and external partners to translate research models into deployable services, including GPU resource planning and both batch and streaming inference workflows. I also design real-time and near–real-time inference pathways, ensure results persistence, and support human-in-the-loop review tools to enable safe clinical adoption.I define, track, and operationalize validation and system metrics—including accuracy, sensitivity/specificity, AUC, turnaround time, and uptime—to ensure models perform reliably in real-world settings. At Bio-Techne, I analyze multiplex and chromogenic RNA ISH images and provide data-driven scientific guidance. My background includes ML-based biomedical classification, OCT imaging research at Cornell, and medical device R&D supported by ISO 13485 standards.I’ve worked on projects involving 3D U-Net segmentation, image enhancement algorithms, and ML-driven disease detection. I’m passionate about building intelligent imaging solutions that advance research and healthcare innovation.Research Work1. Published Patent: eDRA (early Diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis)2. Published Patent: NIVaRAn (Non-Invasive Vital Signs & Respiratory Analyzer) for COVID-193. Granted Patent: PRAN (Protective Respiratory Auxiliary Node)
