ABOUT KARAM N.

I am an educational developer, workshop facilitator, and researcher with a passion for inclusive, learner-centred education. With a background in curriculum design, educational assessment, English language instruction, and student mentorship, I bring a collaborative and equity-driven lens to every project I take on.At McMaster’s DeGroote School of Business, I have led several large-scale curricular innovations—redesigning a second-year career development course for over 500 students and developing leadership tutorials for first-year commerce students. I also recently created online training modules to support undergraduate teaching assistants, and I am currently co-developing a hybrid instructional skills training for Business faculty and an asynchronous quantitative refresher for incoming MBA students. In addition, I am completing my PhD at the University of Toronto as a flex-time student in Applied Linguistics, where my research explores plurilingual assessment practices to better support international students’ oral language development in professional settings. As a lead research assistant on SSHRC-funded projects, I have worked closely with faculty and student teams across Canada and Italy to explore innovative language pedagogies and co-author publications in peer-reviewed journals and edited collections. I regularly present at academic conferences and remain committed to integrating universal design principles into all aspects of my teaching and research.
