ABOUT KARA SATRA PINETTI
With over 30 years of Coast Guard service, I lead and manage the USCG Response Advisory Team as the Region 10 RRT Coordinator, covering Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. My mission is to ensure effective preparedness and response to oil spills, hazardous substance releases, and other incidents that threaten the marine environment and public health and safety. I coordinate with federal, state, tribal, and local agencies, as well as industry and environmental stakeholders, to implement the National Contingency Plan and the Regional Contingency Plan. I also have a strong legal background, holding a LLM in Estate Planning, a JD, and a MS in Business. I am licensed to practice law in Washington and New Mexico, and I have an Associate Fellowship from the Nautical Institute. I leverage my expertise in emergency management, homeland security, environmental and maritime law to provide advice and guidance to the Coast Guard and other partners. I also practice trust and estate law, including the management of Special Needs Trusts. I am passionate about protecting the marine environment and serving the public interest.
