ABOUT KARA MCNAMARA
PhD trained Cancer Biologist with a translational research focus and deep expertise in gastrointestinal epithelial immunology, 3D human and mouse organoid systems, and in vivo disease modeling. My doctoral work integrated mechanistic investigation of gastric carcinogenesis and inflammatory bowel disease with therapeutic innovation, including a co-invented provisional patent for an acrolein-scavenging compound. I have led and contributed to multiple high-impact publications, including first-author research in Oncogene, Scientific Reports, Amino Acids, and Gastro Hep Advances. I bring experience in cross-disciplinary collaborations, advanced techniques such as CRISPR editing of human-derived organoids, flow cytometry, metabolomics, and microbiome analysis, as well as a strong track record of scientific leadership and mentorship. With a passion for advancing bench discoveries into clinical solutions, I am eager to contribute to therapeutic development at the interface of immunology, oncology, and translational science.
