ABOUT KARA HOGINSKI TROSEN

I am a Therapeutic Recreation Director for over 25 years. My duties include planning, directing, managing and coordinating Recreation-based treatment programs for people with disabilities, injuries or illness. I use a variety of modalities, including arts, animals, music, cognitive, physical and a social aspect to help maintain or improve a patient\'s physical, social and emotional well-being.Typical day includes *assessing patients needs through observing, charts and discussions with other healthcare professionals, patients and their families. Then creating treatment plans and programs that meet the patients needs and interests, interventions, engaging patients in therapeutic activities such as exercise, games and much more. I also help patients learn social skills needed to become or remain as independent as possible. I also work as a team member to teach patients about ways to cope with stress, anxiety, & depression. I monitor the progress and then evaluate after a certain time frame.I have 100% care and compassion, very positive leadership skills, listening skills, contagious sense of humor, patience and resourcefulness along with working very well as an active team member and manager.Another very important part of my daily responsibilities include managing a team of 3 TRD\'s, making sure we meet daily to discuss as a team our day and any plan of action for any event that may be taking place. I am also responsible for planning big events at my facility that include National Nursing Home Week, Grandparents Day, Holiday Family/Resident Events, Veteran\'s Day and Employee Events as well as working close within our community.
