ABOUT KARA HANAOKA
I currently serve as the Executive Director at Good Work Austin, bringing with me over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including five years with the Central Texas Food Bank and six years with It\'s Time Texas as their VP of Impact.I am a purpose-driven leader, connector, and strategist that has consistently guided organizations to achieve tangible, transformative outcomes. My expertise lies in designing and securing funding for innovative, award-winning programs that have positively impacted the lives of over a million Texans. Earlier in my career, I spent eight years in the food and beverage industry, where I cultivated a passion to advocate for equitable food systems and policy reform. My leadership and advocacy efforts have significantly influenced community-driven initiatives across Austin, Texas, where I currently reside and remain actively engaged. I also serve on the board of the ACLU of Texas, where I continue to champion justice and equity.My past advocacy efforts include serving on state and regional health boards including Austin-Travis County Food Policy Board, Live Smart Texas, Michael Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living Advisory Committee, Partnership for A Healthy Texas Steering Committee, and Unidos Contra La Diabetes Steering Committee.
