About Kara Given
Right out of high school, I was challenged by the U.S. Army to learn to read, write, and speak the Russian language. It was with great pride I wore my uniform at graduation. I had conquered a new language and learned to lead a group of diverse strangers striving towards the same goal. I now have more than 25 years of experience leading diverse and geographically-dispersed teams to achieve unique successes internationally in the field of nuclear security. For example, I oversaw the reduction of 17 metric tons of excess weapons-useable high enriched uranium - the equivalent of eliminating ~446 nuclear weapons. The U.S. subject matter experts that supported this effort came from seven different organizations located in six different states. I love coaching my staff to excel at their peak performance, assisting them in overcoming obstacles, and celebrating their achievements.
