About Kandace Vallejo

Kandace Eloisa Vallejo is the founder and principal at Remedios Consulting. A serial founder and intersectional organizer who has worked in social movements and philanthropy, Kandace has built, led, and scaled multiple efforts and grant making initiatives for racial, climate, and economic justice. Kandace pairs her two decades of social impact experience with extensive training in the healing arts. Her sharp political analysis and strategic mind combine with her keen business sense and highly relational sensibilities to position her as a unique partner to nonprofit and philanthropic entities working to align with and strengthen social movements. In 2014, Kandace founded Youth Rise Texas where she worked alongside young people to build a healing centered movement contesting criminalization and deportation. Ms. Vallejo is a co-founder of the Texas Youth Power Alliance, and the founding board chair of Jolt Action. She previously worked aiding the growth of the immigrant worker justice movement in the South by laying the groundwork for historic worker-led victories alongside the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, the Student/Farmworker Alliance, and the Workers Defense Project. Kandace also loves to cook, eat, and write about food, and is currently working on a book about the indigenous brilliance that undergirds traditional Mexican American foodways in the Southwest. She holds a Masters in Education from University of Texas at Austin, and was a Kellogg Food and Community Fellow from 20••••13 while working to build a youth food justice program for Latin American immigrant youth. Kandace has spoken and written widely on issues related to worker’s rights, social movements, and immigrant rights. She earned a Soros Justice Fellowship, was selected as a Robert Wood Johnson Culture of Health Leader, and was a Next-Gen Líder at Hispanics in Philanthropy.
