Responsible for crypto and IP litigation across all of Block (Square, Cash App, TIDAL, Afterpay, Spiral, TBD). • Counseling Block’s hardware, ecom, music streaming, and BNPL teams to mitigate risk in contract negotiations and during product lifecycle. • Negotiating complex contracts, including licenses, covenants, purchase agreements, terms sheets, and indemnities. • Recruiting, developing, and leading a team of in-house professionals focused on IP and crypto litigation and counseling. • Performing diligence and landscape analysis on IP assets and litigation exposure in M&A activity. • Identifying, monitoring, and analyzing the latest case law and regulatory actions touching IP and cryptocurrency, primarily Bitcoin, to keep business practices fully aligned with evolving regulatory landscape and advise holistically on potential impact. • Partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and refine a legal strategy informed by IP and cryptocurrency regulation and litigation, enabling rapid product development and iteration using a principled risk approach. • Building systems and frameworks for evaluating, managing, and resolving potential and actualized disputes.
