ABOUT JIJGNAS KAMMARA

I am a Deputy Program Executive at the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) under the Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO), Ministry of Defence, working at the intersection of defence innovation, emerging technologies, and strategic program execution.With a dual academic foundation in Electronics & Communication Engineering (B.Tech) and Management (M.S.) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, my journey has evolved from data science and AI research to supporting India’s defence innovation ecosystem. I work closely with startups, armed forces stakeholders, industry partners, and policymakers to accelerate the development and deployment of indigenous defence technologies.Previously at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (RBCDSAI), I worked on AI-driven learning systems and large language model (LLM) research, exploring transformer architectures, generative AI, and table-to-text systems. I also contributed to the REAP initiative supporting financial inclusion through AI-enabled education platforms.My research engagements with the National Maritime Foundation and the United Service Institution of India strengthened my understanding of India’s strategic posture, maritime security, and multipolar geopolitics — particularly in the Indo-Pacific and Red Sea regions.What defines my profile is the ability to operate across domains:• Defence innovation & startup ecosystems• AI, NLP & data-driven systems• Strategic research & maritime security• Program execution & stakeholder coordination• Technology policy & national capability buildingI am deeply interested in how emerging technologies — AI, autonomous systems, dual-use platforms, and digital infrastructure — can strengthen national security while enabling scalable innovation.Open to conversations around defence tech, AI ecosystems, strategic policy, and public-sector innovation.
