About Kamilah Avant
As a seasoned diversity leader, my purpose is to expand inclusion opportunities in personal, academic and professional spaces. I focus on growing inclusion by amplifying diverse voices, empowering and advocating for underrepresented students and groups, and fostering relationships that lead to meaningful actions. I work diligently to build my legacy which includes educating and uplifting next generation voices, guiding students on pathways to success and helping them shape their vision of a more equitable society. I find value and purpose in my interactions with students – and I strive daily to take steps towards executing meaningful work that has a lasting impact.I have experience in various leadership roles in the fields of education, media, publishing, finance, and television. While serving in these various capacities, I operate from an equity lens and influence from within by counseling decision-makers on how to introduce inclusion in processes and operational outcomes. Additionally, my commitment to community is reflected in the Board positions I hold locally, regionally and nationally.
