ABOUT KAMILA BASHIR

Hey! I am Kamila, an interdisciplinary researcher and designer, and a systemic thinker. My practice is centered on the nuanced interplay of human experience, place-based responsibility, and diverse design paradigms. It sits at the junction of design, health, community, social advocacy, and environmental consciousness.My approach integrates co-design, human-centered design, and circular/regenerative design practices, creating a framework that elevates the user experience while prioritizing environmental impact. I question pre-existing narratives, identify flaws, create spaces for meaningful dialogue, and transform challenges into opportunities.With a background in industrial design, I turn abstract ideas into tangible and material forms by building relationships with people with lived experiences to center their needs. I am well-versed in 3D modeling and rendering for product conceptualization, fabrication, and marketing. I have a strong understanding of fabrication and prototyping techniques with both soft textile materials and hard dimensional materials such as wood and metal. I also work in communication design-related disciplines. My strength lies in viewing systems holistically, overlaying complex information and synthesizing it into actionable outcomes.Outside of my professional endeavours, I enjoy hiking and am a passionate photographer.
