About Kameelah Phillips
I wear many hats. I am a wife and mother. I am a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and Internationally Boarded Lactation Consultant, I am a lifelong women’s health advocate. These roles help me create an authentic and trustworthy relationship with my patients. I love what I do with and for women.Since high school I have been involved in local, national, and international organizations aimed at advancing the women’s health care issues through advocacy and direct patient care. I graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Human Biology with an emphasis in Women\'s Health and Human Sexuality. From here, I worked at the San Francisco Department of Public Health AIDS Office before proceeding to the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. Here I was acknowledged from my commitment to the community service and was privileged to travel to Ghana, Cuba, and Tanzania on health missions. As a resident at NYU School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital, I was fortunate to work with an amazing community of physicians in Port-au-Prince, Haiti during the 2010 earthquake. I aim to inspire women to engage in their health and wellbeing. I believe that a healthy woman is the foundation of a thriving family and community. I encourage women to invest in themselves on a daily basis. As an educator, mentor, and expert in women’s health issues, I love to make medicine and the human body accessible to my patients. My interests include prenatal care and I have advanced training in lactation and breastfeeding to best care for my prenatal patients. I also enjoy preventative health care, sexual medicine, and menopause. In addition to resident education I recently started my private practice in New York City, Calla Women\'s Health.Reality TV is a guilty pleasure of mine. As a Real World Alumnae, I have used this platform to travel nationwide to discuss domestic violence, smoking cessation, and other health related issues. In my attempt to live my health and wellness message, I enjoy HIIT classes and green smoothies. I enjoy baking and am currently learning to re-invent kale for myself. Thanks for reading. It is so nice to \"virtually\" meet you. You can follow me on Instagram @drkameelahsays and @callawomenshealth for the latest and coolest women\'s health information.
