Kamaal Thomas is Technology Risk Strategist, specializing in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. He has extensive experience building high-velocity security programs and liaising with security leaders, C-suite executives, board members, regulators, and clients to inform them of organizational cyber risk levels and designing risk reduction efforts.He is currently a Business Information Security Officer (BISO) at Bridgewater Associates. Prior, he was Vice President of Technology Risk at Goldman Sachs where he led the development and execution of Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management’s (AWM) cybersecurity strategy and strategic transformation programs. Notably, he oversaw the modernization of the AWM’s technology stack through the demise of legacy infrastructure, protocols, and software products across a suite of applications.Before joining Goldman Sachs, Kamaal worked for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where he supported efforts to reduce systemic cybersecurity risk to the financial system through conducting innovative policy research and strengthening international and national public-private partnerships.Kamaal has received fellowships and scholarships with the U.S. Democratic National Committee, Princeton University, Tsinghua University in Beijing, and the U.S. Department of State. He is a graduate of the University of California, Davis, and is a 2012 recipient of the Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship.
