About Kalyani Joshi
I hold a silver medal in MSc Clinical Psychology, from CMR University, Bangalore. I have completed my BSc in Clinical Psychology from Amity University, Mumbai. I have an experience in Psychology and Mental Health Care industry along with Education, Sales and Marketing industry. I have collaborated on and headed various mental health projects, in an effort to bring awareness about it amongst the masses. I headed the National Sales department at NextGenInnov8, Pune. I am currently enrolled in the Business Program with a focus on Image Consulting and Soft Skills Training at Image Consulting Business Institute (ICBI). I am looking to combine my training in Psychology with the fields of Image Consulting and Soft Skills Training in order to make this unique combination, my niche.I am a vocal advocate on the issues of the queer and trans community. My focus is on the mental health struggles and the discrimination the LGBTQIA+ community faces in their day-to-day life, as a result of the cisgendered-heteronormative perspective being deeply ingrained in our society, which outright tends to reject everything which it isn\'t capable of understanding, let alone using correct resources to educate itself.I have Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I have been undergoing treatment (medication + therapy) for it since the last three years. Why do I mention this? To show that mental health struggles aren\'t biased, irrespective of one\'s background. As a mental health professional, struggling with these disorders I help people not only from a place of academic and practical training, but also from my personal experiences with them.I have been in the field of Psychology and Mental health for the last 8 years (education + practice). Despite how far we have come in terms of talking about, accepting, and opting for professional help for mental health, it still is a stigmatized topic. The more we talk about it, the more accurate and helpful information we get. Mental health awareness has taken a significant leap since the Covid pandemic. Although it shouldn\'t stop now, that the pandemic has subsided. We need to keep talking about it now more than ever. To make sure the awareness keeps spreading across the ages, genders, educational backgrounds, occupations, geographical regions, races, economical strata, I have joined the wagon zealously.
