About Kalkidane Yeshak
My work centers on community organizing, policy advocacy, and connecting people to the systems and resources that impact their lives. Currently, I work as a Community Partnerships Specialist at Fathers and Sons Together (FAST), helping families in South Seattle access housing support, legal services, healthcare, and employment opportunities while creating pathways for youth.As a graduate in Politics from Occidental College, my work examines how communities can influence the policies and systems that affect them. I\'ve researched community resistance to surveillance technologies, presented at the 2025 Civics of Technology Conference, and examined how partisan divides influence AI regulation at the state level.My experience spans housing justice, labor rights, civil liberties, and community development, from supporting tenant protection policies at Public Counsel to building the bridges that help families navigate complex systems. I believe meaningful change happens when legal frameworks, thoughtful policy, and deep community engagement work together. I plan to attend law school to continue this work and advocate for communities that need legal systems to work for them, not against them.
