Designed experiments to test the accuracy of the bioimpedance sensor in monitoring changes in bioimpedance of the throat during a swallow and discover what each increase and decrease corresponds to in swallowing physiology• Conducted bench testing using the to assist clinicians in accurately identifying the amount of swallows children execute while eating, which is inaccurate by sight• Developed an algorithm in MATLAB utilizing peak detection to identify drops in bioimpedance that represent swallows and zeroing the data to remove noise; this algorithm is 99% accurate in identifying swallows over 35 data sets that consisted of both males and females between the ages of 19 and 21 and children of ages 8 and 10 years old • Provided documentation of testing with written procedure tutorials and organized notebook• Collaborated with both electrical engineers and speech pathologists to further improve the project using multiple different perspectives
