ABOUT KALA YAMAGUCHI

I am a graphic designer currently finishing my undergraduate degree at the University of San Francisco. As a designer, I have a deep appreciation and admiration for the complexities and intricacies of the design process. For me, the creative process is a journey and an adventure. The final output is the culmination of this exploration. My work spans a number of disciplines; Ranging from brand identity design, publication design, and illustration. Likewise, in my most recent endeavors, I’ve delved deeper into the world of product design which is something I hope to gain a better grasp of in the near future. Currently, I have been given the honor of working as lead in-house designer at the University of San Francisco within the Career Services department. In this role, I lead a small team in creating visual identities for career-related conferences and events, as well as designing essential collateral materials that support the office\'s initiatives. Examples of my work: • Innovating the brand and visual narrative at USF\'s Career Center by revamping the creative content to better cater to the needs of students and recruiters. This involved spearheading an initiative to enhance efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness by giving an updated brand identity to the department. • In a leadership role, I directed a team of designers to conceptualize and design a distinctive brand identity, along with relevant marketing materials and merchandise for large-scale networking and panelist events. • As a freelance designer working during the developmental stages of the startup company BioForge Industries, I was responsible for creating the logo and developing relevant material while also providing guidance in the initial voice and narrative of the company. Relevant skills: • Excellent understanding of design principles - Composition, Typography, Color Theory, Attention to Detail, etc. • Software- Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, After Effects, Premier Pro, Fresco, Procreate. • Web-based knowledge- Figma, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python The work I do is thoroughly demonstrated in my portfolio here: Please feel free to reach out!
