Interfacing with the Africa Department for the Chief Economist Office. This involves participating at the weekly Africa Expanded Staff meeting and keeping the Chief Economist abreast of developments on the continent. Prepared a number of Information Notes to inform senior management including Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment on various issues relevant to US foreign policy and development priorities, e.g:· Top priorities for Africa for FY20. These include:(i) implementing the titanium package,(ii) developing Trust Standards and adoption of the Global Digital Trust, and pursuing commercial diplomacy with a whole of government approach to major deals.· Global remittance flows from Low-and Middle Income Countries which highlighted that these remittances, valued at more than 540 million in 2019, are projected to fall by 20 percent in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. · Different approaches developed countries adopted to support workers who face unprecedented high unemployment rates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. · Increased African debt and debt relief programs in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Co-authored a working paper for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs on needs assessment to inform renegotiation of the $300 million expiring compact between the US and the Freely Associated States (FAS) including the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau and Republic of Marshall Islands. Co-authored a report for the Bureau of African Affairs on the impact of the Nigeria border closures. and made presentation to the US Interagency Working Group on Nigeria. Co-authored the $1.9 billion Sudan Social Impact Mitigation cash transfer Program for the Sudan’s Special Envoy Office. Crafted a Briefing Checklist for the South Sudan’s Special Envoy Office. Preparing a study on Labor repression in the PRC and its impact on savings, net exports and capital outflows.
