As an Ophthalmic Assistant, I assist in providing high-quality patient care by performing comprehensive preliminary eye exams and diagnostic testing. My role allows me to gain hands-on clinical experience in ophthalmology, reinforcing my passion for optometry and patient eye health. Conduct comprehensive preliminary patient assessments, including visual acuity and pupillary response, forming a critical first step in the diagnostic process. Operate sophisticated diagnostic imaging equipment (OCT, Fundus Photography, Visual Field Analyzer) to aid physicians in diagnosing ophthalmic conditions. Document detailed patient histories, clinical observations, and diagnostic results in the electronic health record (EHR) system with a high degree of accuracy. Educate patients on procedures, pre- and post-operative care, and disease management, fostering informed consent and patient cooperation. Maintain sterile fields and instrument readiness, adhering to infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.Through this role, I am gaining hands-on experience in ocular diagnostics and patient care, strengthening my clinical foundation as I pursue a career in optometry. Working alongside ophthalmologists in a pediatric setting has expanded my knowledge of ocular diseases, patient communication, and diagnostic imaging—key skills that will serve me as a future healthcare provider
