ABOUT KAITLIN KAITIE SADOWSKI
Junior at the University of Pittsburgh studying how democracies break down—and how people fight back. My coursework in international law, comparative politics, democratic erosion, and criminal justice has shown me that the most vulnerable people in conflict and crisis are often women and girls facing violence.I’m working to build a career in humanitarian response, specifically around gender-based violence prevention and women’s protection in conflict zones. I want to do field work that directly supports survivors and strengthens communities.My research on democratic backsliding across 180+ countries taught me how to analyze complex systems and communicate findings clearly. My writing for the Democratic Erosion Consortium taught me how to translate academic research into accessible storytelling. My summer internship at a law firm taught me that I definitely don’t want to be a lawyer.I’m currently researching post-graduation paths including Peace Corps, field-based fellowships, and graduate programs in public health or international development.
