As part of the core avionics team in PMA-265, the role is to provide systems/software and hardware expertise to enable the procurement, sustainment, and deployment of avionics systems in aircraft. The role involves working with engineering and technical staff together with supply chain companies from whom the avionics systems are procured. A significant part of the task includes solving avionics issues, writing trade studies, obsolescence issues, defect monitoring, risk management and system improvement across the fleet which involves networking with program management agencies across several disciplines, subject matter experts (SMEs), vendors, and supply chain companies to solve complex solutions.• Activities include:o System and functional architecture definition showing connectivity, message flow and criticality between LRUs pertinent for the functionality of the system,o Writing and maintaining system level requirements and interfaces control document,o Creation and assessment of system requirements for new and modified functionalities,o The conduct of hardware and software trade studies to expedite solutions for either replacement or enhancement to avionics systems in aircraft with sustainment and obsolescence considerations,o Engineering impact assessment of new projects allowing Level 1 and Level 2 management to make informed procurement decisions,o Preparation and maintenance of Statement of Work (SOW),o Creating risk registers and formal risk documentation and corresponding mitigation actions,o Preparing architectural solutions for avionics installations into existing legacy architectures and preparing Interface Control Documents that define information flow between subsystems,o Preparing and participating in Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) on several projects,o Attending and participating in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
