About Kaila Wilson

Everyone has a story; I facilitate opportunities for communities to tell their stories and build towards a more just and resilient future.I am committed to working together with, within, and alongside local communities as we face the climate crisis. Growing up on a southwestern Wisconsin dairy farm in the 1980s, I experienced firsthand how my family’s adoption of organic, regenerative, systems-oriented farming practices changed the trajectory of our farm from struggling to thriving—financially as well as in the health of our soil and animals. The values that helped our farm thrive (i.e. diversity, adaptability, and holistic systems) are values that I bring to my work using the tools of data analysis, policy development, and community organizing and advocacy. My path has been winding. From digging hundreds of conservation agriculture basins in the fields of Eastern Zambia to providing policy and technical assistance to state agencies in developing quality workforce development programs in all 53 states and territories of the U.S, one thread has held tight: I am not afraid to dig in, be vulnerable, and listen to the voices of frontline and fenceline community members while seeking solutions and advocating for a path forward that prioritizes accountability, transparency, and the health of the earth and all its inhabitants. When I am not thinking about the challenges of our times, I am hiking, gardening, and appreciating art in all its many forms.
