Since joining Amazon, I have been working on improving the accuracy and efficiency for device/cloud ASR systems. As a natural extention to my previous research, I, along with my colleagues, put effort into model sparsification (pruning) and quantization. Our neural efficiency innovations have been productized in various Amazon\'s voice-controlled assistants, such as Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Show, etc. Overall, our methods reduced the model footprint and user perceived latency with improved recognition accuracy simultaneously. Millions of customers are using them.
