ABOUT KAI CHEN

Energetic computer engineering graduate student, with 8 years experience in software development and one-year research experience in nature language processing, offering exceptional problem solving abilities, with a natural distinct to concentrate and inherent desire to take challenges. Not exactly a leader for now but a stereotyped doer. Fluent in Object-Oriented languages like Java and C#, never say no to new things. Have script-language developing experience in Ruby Rails; have thorough understanding of node.js essential skills and now working on popular libraries (Shader, leveldb, Bytewiser etc.) and styles writing in node.js (express.js framework) on Github (Account: CKcaesar) Developed a University Tracking System using JSF framework starting from scratch within a week (applied some automatic mechanisms in data manipulation such as ‘trigger’, ‘transaction’ etc.), then designed and implemented test plans (using JUnit, Cucumber and Selenium) to ensure its quality in front(web page) and back(database) side Algorithm Design and Implementation experience, during graduate program I improved the efficiency of “travelling salesman problem” by introducing search tree; improved the standard Add & Remove algorithm in base station location problem by setting thresholds; Designed a redistribution algorithm in two-side auction which could minimize the outside subsidy in graduation design of undergraduate Collaborated with four classmates to develop an online medical reimbursement system on struts+oracle framework in summer 2011 that won the second prize of a provincial-level contest Developed many functional information systems in course/practical-based projects individually as well as in group since 2009 and got OCJP qualification in 2012; excellent player in agile development team, comfortable with multi-tasking, suits well in a fast-paced environment
