About Kenisha Day

I am a Criminal Law Hearing Officer with the Harris County Courts located in the Houston, Texas area. Previously, I worked as a Senior Trial Attorney with Allstate. Before that, I served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Harris County District Attorney’s office, which is the third largest District Attorney\'s Office in the United States; Harris County, Texas covers over 5.5 million people. I was previously assigned as a Trafficking/Child Exploitation prosecutor. Additionally, I served as a misdemeanor chief in County Court at Law 16. I volunteered with Sober Court, under the guidance of Judge Alex Salgado and STAR court, under the guidance of Judge Josh Hill. Additionally, I served on the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association Diversity Recruitment and Retention Committee.I received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. While in law school, I served as the president of the Criminal Law Society (2014-15) and Treasurer of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). I received my bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2010. While attending UCSB, I was a recipient of the University Service Award for Scholarship, Citizenship, and Service. I served on Legislative Council as an Off-Campus Representative (2008-09), Resident Assistant (2007-08), as an intern for the Dean of Students Office of Judicial Affairs (2009-10), and a Career Services Peer Advisor (2009-10). Additionally, I held board positions in Akanke and the Black Student Union. I am originally from Compton, California. I graduated from King/Drew Medical Magnet High School in 2006.
