Conduct client intake and triage assessments for new and returning shelter residents, identifying immediate needs and appropriate services-Orient clients to shelter policies, daily routines, available services, and community resources in a trauma-informed and client-centered manner-Provide frontline support and emotional encouragement to individuals experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and mental health or substance use challenges-Apply harm reduction and de-escalation techniques to manage high-stress or aggressive behaviors, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all residents-Complete all administrative and clerical duties, including maintaining logbooks, completing intake forms, and updating client records in alignment with agency procedures-Facilitate internal referrals to counselling, case management, spiritual care, and other in-house programs or external supports-Perform regular safety and wellness checks throughout the shelter and maintain a consistent presence in the atrium to support community engagement and stability-Collaborate with shelter staff to support client-centered programming and create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
