ABOUT JEFFREY KEMP

I am the Deputy General Counsel – Commercial at Koch, one of the largest private companies in America. Koch has diverse businesses across sectors such as energy, building products, pulp and paper, electronics, fertilizer, chemicals, trading, business software, and finance. Koch’s estimated annual revenues have exceeded $125 billion, with businesses that employ about people worldwide across more than 60 countries. Koch is guided by Principle Based Management™, a framework based on the principles of human progress that empowers employees and drives transformation.I serve as a leader of the global Koch Commercial Legal Capability, a team of 90+ legal professionals providing a competitive advantage to Koch businesses through efficient contracts support, strategic business counseling, a flexible resourcing model, and constant transformational experimentation in the delivery of legal services. I also serve on the Koch Legal Executive Leadership Team.My corporate legal experience spans practice areas such as business counseling, litigation, compliance, internal investigations, and M&A diligence, in addition to partnering with other legal functions (e.g, labor/employment and intellectual property) and supporting corporate security and government/public affairs colleagues. I thrive on serving as a trusted business advisor who provides reliable, practical advice and quickly simplifies complex issues or problems through risk-adjusted guidance. I am equally passionate about developing and mentoring talent for the organization. Prior to joining Koch and its family of companies in 2007, I was an equity partner and former senior associate at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP (Norton Rose Fulbright), an Am Law 100 global firm, where I handled business, toxic tort, and product liability litigation. I also served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Harris County District Attorney’s Office in Houston, Texas.My passions include Duke University Blue Devils basketball and football, reading history books and spy thrillers, and the occasional bad golf outing.
