The Retail Design Institute is a nonprofit organization that \"promotes the advancement and collaborative practice of creating selling environments”. RDI is the focused on the retail industry\'s creative professionals versus a vendor-‐sponsored organization. RDI was founded in 1961 t o be a collaborative community where ideas, knowledge and passion would be shared at a local level and enable members to fulfill the fast-‐paced planning and design needs of retail. Today, membership includes architects, graphic designers, lighting designers, interior designs, store planners, visual merchandisers, resource designers, brand strategists, educators, trade partners, editors and publishers, and students. RDI celebrates great retail design, sharing learnings, trends and innovation in the retail industry. RDI sponsors student competitions and scholarships. RDI is a chapter based, volunteer organization supported through membership dues and sponsorship. Sponsors are able to support the design community through our educational efforts.
