About Jwan Campbell

I am a cybersecurity executive with 15+ years experience leading enterprise security strategy, cyber risk governance, security operations, data protection, privacy, and cloud security in highly regulated environments. My leadership approach is grounded in understanding how the business operates, how technology supports it, where risk is created, and which controls are needed to reduce that risk effectively. While I bring deep expertise in data protection, my focus has always been broader than any single control domain. I evaluate business processes, technology dependencies, and data movement end to end to help organizations design practical, scalable, and business-aligned security strategies.Across financial services and healthcare, I have led initiatives that strengthened governance, improved control effectiveness, supported operational resilience, and helped executives navigate evolving cyber and technology risk.Core focus areas include enterprise security strategy, cyber risk, operations, governance, data protection, privacy, cloud security, and AI security.

Experience

  1. Executive Director Enterprise Cyber Security

    Wells Fargo

    Jul 2022 — Present

Created the enterprise’s first data protection policy by translating business risk, control gaps, and operational realities into a governance standard with clear requirements across the organization. Led a large-scale risk reduction effort across applications by aligning business ownership, security requirements, and technical enforcement for application-generated email. Developed cloud security strategy across Azure and GCP by partnering with infrastructure and security teams to address direct egress risk, misconfiguration response, and protection of sensitive data across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments. Embedded security requirements earlier in the delivery lifecycle by introducing control gates into application onboarding and deployment processes, reducing the likelihood that new capabilities would bypass oversight before production release. Established enterprise-wide governance and assessment mechanisms, including MITRE-aligned exfiltration assessments, risk-based OCR expansion, issue management controls, and participation in bypass/firewall governance to improve visibility, accountability, and control defensibility.
