I’d like to have two Recruiting Teams:One for display — with lovely dashboards, polished slide decks, tight process compliance, high-volume execution, and a strong presence at QBRs and recruiting events. Performative folk, with a long history of LinkedIn posts; distinguished and bland Managers; who would be deeply concerned over their team’s badge swipes or their Manager’s Manager’s coffee temperatures. A Talent Acquisition team that would be shown for a modest fee at every HR conference in the country.The other would be the real one — composed entirely of a diversity of gritty, gutsy, sharp humans from all walks of life. These are those who don’t need perfect inputs to deliver exceptional outcomes. They embed deeply with the business, operate in ambiguity, source without full job specs while fully understanding the role itself, and close top talent by building trust — not just running process. They adapt faster than the business can plan.
