ABOUT JUSTIN THURGOOD
I have 20 years of engineering experience in R&D, product development, and continuing engineering. I spent my first 9 years in a small start-up company called Infinia where I was a key player in all aspects of product design from concept development through production. I was responsible for concept creation, structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS, 3D CAD modeling using Autodesk Inventor, production drawings with GD & T, and material and production specifications. At Infinia, I was part of the design team that was able to fully develop the world’s first mass producible free-piston Stirling Engine demonstrated by a successful initial build of 429 units.For the past 12 years I have been expending my talents for building business relationships as a technical representative to a wide range of customers as I have served as an applications engineer for Varian Medical Systems - Imaging Components, now Varex Imaging Corporation. In my role, I have strengthened key relationships with customers by identifying and correcting design and quality issues affecting Varex\'s customers.Specialties: Structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS MECHANICAL and APDL. Familiarity with ASME pressure vessel codes. Full drawing layouts from piece components to large assemblies using GD & T, systematic problem solving using principles of Kepner-Tregoe, 8D problem solving, and 6-sigma statistical analysis.
