ABOUT JUSTIN SAUNDERS

I prefer to work with intelligent and thoughtful people who are self-driven to deliver great systems. As a manager I try to strike a balance between constructive chaos and utilitarian process to allow individuals the flexibility to make reasoned decisions and promote autonomy while maintaining team objectives and project direction.Everything started for me back in the early 90\'s with my first computer: a Compaq Presario CDS 962 running Windows 3.1. I remember it fondly and I remember writing a C++ tank game on it using Borland. My love for everything software development related blossomed then and I have worn numerous hats during my exploits in it. My professional career began with building a.NET 1.1 server-client architecture along with a friend for a venue security system in Vancouver, CA. That was also my second foray into being an entrepreneur and far from my last.At Microsoft I delved into the field of software testing for several years and became a significantly stronger software developer for it. My senses became finally tuned to recognizing software flaws in code, systems, development practices, and user experiences. I was exposed to numerous architectures, wrote a plethora of tools, earned a patent, engineered builds, wrote features, reviewed countless lines of code, and made lasting friendships. But my desire for broader scope and greater impact weren\'t satiated. So began my earnest years in startups. The startups I have pioneered or joined have all focused on the Web in one way or another. I love Web technologies and I also love the systems that support building software. I recognize that I am a generalist, preferring breadth of knowledge to the silo of depth. I enjoy learning new technologies with a practical purpose to the pursuit. I take pleasure in mastering challenges and resolving issues. But most of all, I love shipping great software. And I will keep doing that until the power goes out.
