About Justin Pedneault

I am currently a Flight Nurse/Paramedic with the LIFE STAR Critical Care Transport Program at Hartford Hospital, a role I began in April 2024. I bring a unique blend of critical care nursing and field paramedicine to this position, built on years of experience in both the hospital and prehospital environments.My nursing journey began after graduating from the University of Connecticut in 2019, when I joined the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Hartford Hospital. Over the following years, I developed advanced clinical competencies and took on leadership responsibilities that shaped my approach to high-acuity care. Lifelong learning has always been a priority for me—I\'ve actively pursued continuing education, attended conferences, and participated in professional organizations to stay current and contribute to the field. As of August 2025 I am enrolled in Post University’s MSN/MBA dual degree program with an anticipated graduation in 2028. My roots in EMS run deep. I began as an EMS Explorer at age 14, and in 2022 I became a licensed Paramedic with Suffield Volunteer Ambulance Association (SVAA). I continue to serve in this role, which builds on more than six years of experience as an EMT responding to 911 calls in the Town of Suffield and surrounding communities. I was honored to serve on the SVAA Board of Directors from 20••••25. I am deeply driven by my passion to be the best part of someone’s worst day—delivering the highest level of care, regardless of environment or circumstance.Outside of my professional life, I find joy in being a father, husband, and brother. I enjoy the outdoors, traveling, learning new skills, and giving back to my community whenever I can.

   Since April 2024, I have served as a Flight Nurse/Paramedic with the LIFE STAR Critical Care Transport program at Hartford Hospital. In this highly specialized role, I provide critical care nursing and paramedic-level care to critically ill or severely injured patients during interfacility transports and emergency scene responses—by both air and ground.This position requires the integration of advanced pathophysiology, critical care pharmacology, and complex decision-making in high-acuity, dynamic environments. I deliver comprehensive care across a wide range of medical and trauma situations, often in resource-limited or logistically challenging conditions.My advanced clinical skill set includes: • Airway management: Endotracheal intubation, cricothyroidotomy • Cardiopulmonary/trauma procedures: Needle/finger thoracostomy, pericardiocentesis • Vascular access: Peripheral and central venous catheterization, intraosseous infusion • Monitoring & support: Invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, blood administration • Specialized transport: Care of patients on ECMO, MCAD (mechanical circulatory assist devices), and neonatal isolette transportThis role demands autonomy, clinical precision, and the ability to make time-sensitive decisions under pressure—attributes I take pride in developing and refining through every transport.
