I am a tax partner as well as head of the Leeds office for Claritas Tax.I chose a career in tax when I was still studying at Durham university and knew the world of corporate tax and tax matters associated with businesses and their owners was for me. I have over 26 years of tax experience working predominantly for Big 4 and mid-tier firms mainly within corporate tax and advisory teams. I\'m now with Claritas Tax and prior to this, I was a tax partner, heading up the corporate tax team in Leeds as well as National Head of R&D and patent box at Saffery LLP. I have a keen interest in innovative and entrepreneurial companies and, on a day to day basis, I provide tax advice to companies and owner managed businesses within different sectors across all stages of their business lifecycle. My experience includes- Advising on the availability of tax incentives and reliefs including R&D tax credits, patent box, capital allowances and contaminated land relief- Advising on tax efficient cash extraction strategies- Advising on group reorganisations and restructuring projects- Advising on both buy side and sell side transactions and the associated implications- Advising on tax aspects of debt and equity fundraising, including advice in respect of SEIS and EIS- Family investment companies- Providing corporate tax compliance and tax accounting services- Dealing with HMRC enquiries and voluntary disclosures to HMRCClaritas Tax is the largest independent specialist tax services provider in the UK.
