ABOUT JUSTIN DUCOTE
After more than 25 years in high-technology and Health and Life Sciences engineering, I have deliberately redirected my career toward aviation, which has long been my true professional passion.I am currently studying toward my AMT/A&P certification through San Bernardino Valley College and serving as an unpaid Apprentice A&P at the Palm Springs Air Museum, supporting the maintenance and restoration of historically significant, flying aircraft. This transition is not a retreat from rigor or responsibility. It is a return to work that is mechanical, tangible, and uncompromising in its standards, where precision, safety, and accountability are inseparable. The experience I bring to this work was forged across decades in safety-critical technical environments. I have held roles spanning hands-on architecture through global executive oversight, with a focus on cloud platforms, advanced data systems, and emerging computation in support of scientific discovery.Career milestones include enabling the rapid development of the COVID-19 vaccine as Senior Principal Engineer for Cloud Engineering at Moderna, delivering the first cloud-based genomic pipelines used in the treatment of late-stage cancer patients at Foundation Medicine, and building Takeda’s global R&D cloud practice while introducing its first quantum computing experiment to model RNA behavior. Earlier, I was among the early members of AWS Enterprise Support, helping define the organization’s foundational culture and operating model as it scaled globally. Most recently, I led the Healthcare and Life Sciences division at Dantech, shaping strategy, cultivating partnerships, and delivering innovative capabilities. This work was recognized with Best of Show at Bio-IT World 2025 for MLADU, a high-performance scientific data logistics engine qualified under both HIPAA and GDPR.Servant leadership has been the constant across every role. Teams deserve ownership of success, while leadership must take accountability for setbacks. Guiding talented people toward careers that ultimately surpass what any one individual could achieve alone remains the most rewarding part of the journey. The lighthearted “Aircraft Rancher” title reflects a familiar arc among long-time technology veterans who eventually exchange abstraction for something real. In my case, that reality is aviation maintenance, preservation, and the long-term stewardship of aircraft that still fly, still teach, and still matter. The tools have changed. The expectations have not.
