Senior Staff Production Engineer - Core Systems @Meta

Co-leading Meta-wide program replacing old hardware and coordinating data center retrofits. My focus is on execution of service migrations, x-region capacity shifts, and hardware transitions (like Broadwell -> Cooperlake). Currently leading an Infra-wide program involving 30+ of teams to eliminate delays to hardware refresh: unblocking ~10s of $M/yr worth of capacity. Leveraged extensive network of connections and thorough understanding of service design to overcome several challenging issues: supply chain delays, complexity of services’ ability to execute, capacity ordering shortfalls, and more. Led investigation and recovery of ~10s of $M/yr worth of stranded capacity due to untracked errors. Acknowledged as the only (sr. staff) engineer in 6+ years willing to stick with this problem until it was fully resolved. Led alignment across 8 teams / 30+ engineers on changes to drastically simplify workflows. This refactor better aligns business concerns with the teams that drive them, and allows my team to pivot to staff a critical business need over the next 3 years. Shifted culture within Hardware Refresh to start using SEVs (Severe EVents) to deal with critical issues consistent with incident response elsewhere within Meta. Shifted focus from more strategic to hyper-tactical to address emerging critical business risks. Involved with a select group of senior staff + principal engineers, senior managers and directors in updating org-wide guidelines for performance evaluations. Continue to mentor TLs and junior engineers with growth plans, discussions on individual performance, roadmap planning, and longer-term vision setting.
