Mars Sample Return (MSR); Mechanical Design Engineer -Responsible for the design of the propulsion accommodation hardware on the Sample Return Lander structure. This includes propulsion and pressurant tanks, Mars Lander Engines, propulsion plates and lines, and more-Create and document engineering solutions to design and build the laboratory\'s flight, developmental, and conceptual programs utilizing computer aided design tools and facilities in a collaborative effort with system engineering, hardware engineering, engineering analysis, materials and process engineering, and science objectives. Mechanical Ground Support Engineer and Integration and Test Engineer -Simultaneously manage multiple Mechanical Ground Support Equipment projects by preparing and presenting design reviews to NASA stakeholders, create build-to-print end item data packages, and provide floor support for integration and testing of end items-Interact with several engineering disciplines (I&T, structures, thermal, contamination, environmental test, safety, etc.) to define functional and performance requirements-Experience with a variety of materials, finishes, fasteners, & hardware including aluminum, stainless steel, honeycomb panels, thermal spacers, etc-Design experience using NX 3-D modeling and 2-D drawing creation-Perform stress/thermal analysis to ensure designs meet deflection and failure criteria with parameters defined in process documentation & project requirements-Utilize GD & T to ensure part interchangeability and ensure proper tolerance clearance/stack-up between mating parts.
