ABOUT JUSTIN MOORES
Known as a champion for innovation and entrepreneurship and a seasoned advocate for the national and international funding of research and development ventures, I strongly believe in Canadian technologies and innovations. With good humour and a mind for strategy, it is my goal to support organizations, products, and services that can provide practical social and economic benefits on a national and international stage. I demonstrate effective management of projects of varying size and often with multiple conflicting priorities. I excel in business development, technology transfer, and intellectual property (IP) negotiations to enhance the commercial applicability of IP and position new technologies for early-stage investment. I drive the development of innovative products and services in many domains including Life Sciences, Oceans, Cleantech, Information and Communications Technologies, Engineering, and Advanced Manufacturing. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS • Headed the development of a growing pipeline of research-based innovations with high commercial potential across numerous faculties of the University of PEI (UPEI) delivering 1300% growth in under five years. • Led the UPEI/Synapse team in delivering over $15M in collaborative research partnerships from 2017 to 2022, 300% over the projected target. • Steered several new UPEI technologies from proof of concept and patent assessment towards commercialization and company creation and/or partnership. • Negotiated expanded funding for core operations with Innovation PEI, ACOA, Springboard Atlantic, and UPEI based on demonstrated successes. • Aided in the development, planning, and execution of start-up ventures, including the analysis and evaluation of the patentability, marketability, and novelty of new inventions. • Delivered $10M+ and provided progressive management of special projects totalling over $7.5M while at Mitacs.
